Ashley and Grady’s wedding was held on a private estate in Chestertown, Maryland with plenty of room to spread out and stunning views of the water. The private estate was surrounded by shady trees in the peak of summer that provided plenty of privacy for the couple and that just-right outdoorsy feel to make the day feel special and laid back.
Planning a wedding in the middle of the summer allowed Ashley and Grady to make the most of the wonderful weather with a tented reception. Filled with tables, a buffet-style meal from the leading BBQ caterers in Chestertown, and twinkling lights, the outdoor tent gave guests the perfect place to relax and celebrate on the grounds of the private estate.
A great amount of beauty from this wedding emerged from simplicity. Beautiful beams of sunlight cascading through the surrounding foliage brought natural light to the venue, allowing the best aspects of the outdoors to bring life to the estate. Keeping the decor light and airy, Ashley & Grady chose the simple decor for their reception with white table cloths, wooden chairs, and rustic wooden tabletops.
Allowing the outdoors to shine with natural beauty, the floral arrangements for the bridal party and table settings were designs with muted green foliage like eucalyptus leaves and enhanced with pops of orange, pink, and tan flowers.
What we love about this wedding is its understated beauty and warmth. Ashley & Grady chose to forego guest seating in their ceremony by having guests stand on an incline overlooking the ceremony by the water. This is a great solution for anyone looking to simplify the formality of a ceremony; less planning needs to be put into setting up the ceremony area and everyone feels a bit closer to the action of the ceremony, giving the perfect sense warmth and involvement in the big moment.

Ashley & Grady stuck with the laid-back vibe of their wedding by choosing a buffet-style BBQ pig roast for their food. It was important to Ashley and Grady that their wedding was more than a ceremony declaring them husband and wife. Instead, they wanted their wedding to feel like a big celebration, which meant it was time to bring the fun. They made their wedding day super fun and family-friendly by incorporating cornhole into the mix, setting up Pickleball courts, and constructing the perfect arts and crafts table for the kids. This way, guests were able to spread out, drink, play, and celebrate the wedding the right way: with a constant smile!
